During his military career, and especially during his early days in the army (in the early 1960s leading up the Singapore’s independence in 1965) Clarence was deployed to a number of locations around what is now modern day Malaysia. These deployments were specifically related to the tail end of the Malayan Emergency and, later, the Confrontation (Konfrontasi).

For those not familiar with the region, I have prepared a number of Google Earth images showing the region, with pins of some of the locations mentioned in the book. Click on the images below to see a larger version.
